The Lake County Therapeutic Intervention Court (TIC) serves Lake County residents charged with level 4, 5 and 6 (C and D) felony offenses where the individual’s serious mental illness is believed to have been a contributing factor to his/her criminal behavior. The goal of this court is to provide participants who suffer from serious mental illness a continuous support system that will result in long term, law abiding behavior for program graduates. Ultimately, this will improve public safety and public health. The Lake County Therapeutic Intervention Court is available to adult male and female felony offenders who score moderate to high on the IRAS (Indiana Risk and Needs Assessment). The program ranges from twelve (12) to eighteen (18) months depending on the participant’s progress.
